Mission-style centrifugal pumps for mud mixing, transfer, and recirculation systems
Centrifugal mud pumps move drilling fluid at moderate pressure and high volume — the right pump curve for feeding mud mixers, desanders, and cleaning loops. They are not the high-pressure pump that drives the drill string; that is a duplex or triplex piston pump in a separate subsection. Centrifugals are the background workhorses that keep the mud system itself operating.
Drillworx stocks centrifugal mud pumps from small 2" skid-mount units for jobsite cleanup loops up to full-size desander feed pumps for integrated HDD mud systems. We also carry the replacement wear parts — impellers, volutes, mechanical seals — because centrifugals eat impellers in abrasive service and a job should not stop because a seal kit is on back order.
For pumps that deliver mud downhole at HDD-drilling pressures, see the mud pump and duplex/triplex subsections. For water-only transfer at the jobsite, a centrifugal pump is also the right tool — the same curves that move mud also move water.
Field guidance
High-volume, low-head centrifugals move mixed mud between storage and working tanks faster than piston pumps and without pressure spikes.
Desanders need stable, moderate pressure — the centrifugal curve. Match pump capacity to desander throughput; oversizing wastes power and horsepower.
A dedicated conditioning centrifugal keeps mud mixed and screened while the main pump is drilling.
The same centrifugals that move mud also move water for makeup, washdown, and containment-tub emptying.

FAQ
No. Drilling requires the high-pressure, positive-displacement flow of a piston pump. A centrifugal cannot build the pressure the drill string needs. Centrifugals feed the mud system that the drilling pump draws from.
Depends heavily on sand content. In well-screened mud (clean or desanded), hundreds of hours. In sand-heavy mud without desanding, an impeller can fail in a single shift. Running a good shaker/desander loop is the cheapest way to protect pump wear parts.
Mechanical seals are standard for current HDD mud-service centrifugals — lower leakage and longer life than packing in typical service. Drillworx stocks seal kits for all common models.
